USS Bowfin Submarine Museum & Park
USS Bowfin is a fleet attack submarine that fought in the Pacific during WWII, and helped to make famous the term, “Silent Service.” Bowfin was launched on 7 December 1942, exactly one year after the attack on Pearl Harbor. She was nicknamed the Pearl Harbor Avenger, so it is fitting that her permanent home is at Pearl Harbor, Hawai’i.

A long day, but thoroughly worth every penny. The history there reminds you that it can never be forgotten. A must do.

Our experience with the tour was delightful. Our tour van driver was friendly, fun, and informative. The history of Pearl Harbor is very sobering. Visiting the Memorial really causes the tragic history to come alive. Vast appreciation for all that gave the ultimate sacrifice and those that survived while serving our country are heros. I especially appreciate our military because our family is full of veterans and one currently active. My dad (Army Air Corp pilot) and father in law (Navy medical) both served during WWII. Our 4 kiddos all served during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. There were 8 deployments altogether. Our son in law also served and was deployed in the 1990's. Now our grandson serves in the Marines. My husband also served during the Viet Nam era. I am very proud of them all. We still have yellow ribbons on our trees and porch posts, and still wave a blue star banner for our active duty Marine. I am very thankful that they all came home. I have been greatly blessed, but my experiences have caused me to especially honor all those that lost their lives and all those that were involved at Pearl Harbor. It has indeed stirred my heart deeply.
