All of the tour takes place in Pike's Place Market. Thoughtful Chef Tours is permitted and licensed by the Pike Place Market Preservation and Development Authority (PDA) to operate in the Pike Place market Historical District. The PDA requires any business or person conducting paid tours within its properties and in the public areas of the historical district to be pre-approved and to have a license for this activity.

My fiancé and I were in Seattle for a comedy show and decided to try this tour out during the day to keep busy, and he LOVES seafood! It was our first time seeing Pike Place Market and the surrounding area. Carolyn was very fun and friendly, and so knowledgeable on the history of the area. We learned a lot of interesting and surprising facts throughout the day, more history than I had expected with this tour which was certainly a good bonus! As for the food, everything was phenomenal! It was really fun to taste and try all of the different options, most of it were things that we normally wouldn't have thought twice about stopping at. The chowder was the best chowder we have ever had in our life, no exaggeration. I loved the smoked salmon too, and it was so fun trying to oyster shooters with the other oyster shooter newbies in the group! The amount of food was also a lot more than we initially thought. Portions seemed a little small at first starting with the ceviche and tortilla chip, but I left feeling full and satisfied! Fiancé was hungry afterwards but thought it was a great bunch of snacks and appetizers on the way. We had somewhere to be right after the tour unfortunately, but Carolyn recommended so many other great spots along the way that I wish we had time to try out. We will definitely remember everything that she showed us and visit the extra stops next time. Absolutely a memorable experience and we are so thankful we tried this!

I had an unforgettable experience on the Savor the Sea: Guided Seafood Tasting at Pike Place with Carolyn! She was fantastic—knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly well-loved by all the vendors, which made the tour feel like being part of a close-knit community. I loved tasting seafood at all the different spots, and Carolyn even convinced me to throw a fish at Pike Place Market—something I never thought I’d do! Her passion and expertise made the entire tour both fun and educational. Highly recommend!

Carolyn is amazing and made our day infinitely more interesting! She helped us discover hidden gems in pike place with amazing historical facts and insights to boot! I highly recommend this tour! The seafood was all wonderful and fresh! Great selection of seafood vendors.
