Here you will have the opportunity to get within twenty-five feet of our distinctive Brown Bear in a naturalized setting. The three-quarter acre habitat, set against the National Forest, is the largest bear habitat in North America and is complete with covered viewing areas. Meet their experienced rescuers as they share their love and knowledge of this often feared, but yet revered creature of the forest.  Learn the challenges they experience as they seek to rescue these incredible giants.

Next you will start your private small group tour of this amazing raptor rehabilitation center. Located on a 17–acre campus bordering the Tongass National Forest and Indian River, its primary mission is the rehabilitation of sick and injured eagles, hawks, falcons, owls, and other birds of prey which are brought in from all over Alaska. The Center (the largest of its type in the state, and one of the largest in North America) receives between 100–200 birds a year, with many suffering from gunshot wounds and traffic accident-related trauma. The Center's goal is to introduce the birds back into the wild, once they are healed and retrained in "raptor life skills" (such as flying) in the enclosed, Bald Eagle Flight-Training Center. A few of the animals that could not be returned to nature have become permanent guests. Центр хищников Аляски

Расположенный в кампусе площадью 17 акров, граничащем с Национальным лесом Тонгасс и рекой Индиан, его основная задача — реабилитация больных и раненых орлов, ястребов, соколов, сов и других хищных птиц, которых привозят со всей Аляски. Центр (крупнейший в своем роде в штате и один из крупнейших в Северной Америке) принимает от 100 до 200 птиц в год, многие из которых страдают от огнестрельных ранений и травм, связанных с дорожно-транспортным происшествием. Цель Центра состоит в том, чтобы вернуть птиц в дикую природу после того, как они будут вылечены и переобучены «жизненным навыкам хищников» (таким как полет) в закрытом Центре летной подготовки белоголовых орланов. Bears, Eagles, a forest walk and more local information than you can digest in just a few hours. Our driver/guide Becky was a wealth of information, insights and humorous anecdotes on Sitka. A fun tour that kept us laughing and paying attention. Of all the tours we took on our cruise to Alaska, this is in the top two. If you tour with Becky, you’ll know “Welcome to Sitka” by the time you’re finished.

Sitka exceeded our expectations, it is a lovely little place. This excursion was led by an extremely knowledgeable and passionate guide born and bred in Sitka. We thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of this trip and left feeling we had experienced all that there was to see in Sitka. It was exhilarating to watch the numerous Bald Eagles riding the thermals towards the end of the day.

The Best!! Our excellent guide was Maria. She is extremely knowledgeable as well as personable, passionate and humorous! We feel in love with Sitka-it's history as well as its beauty. It was easy to get to the pickup location from our cruise ship. A free quick bus ride to the town where we were met by Rhonda and Bruce. The van was excellent-clean and well-maintained with plenty of room for the small group. Maria shared wonderful stories as well as factual information about the locations and wildlife and plants as we toured. The visits to each location were amazing-the park and totem poles, the Raptor Center and the Fortress of the Bears. The love and care for the locations and the animals was wonderful to see and so appreciated. The trip was an easy pace and we never felt rushed. Definitely a bargain! One last note: As we got back to the cruise ship, we realized we had left a backpack in the van. A call to Rhonda alerted Bruce and he got the backpack and brought it out to the cruise ship in time before we had to board for departure! Bruce and Rhonda are simplly superb, customer-focused business folks and definitely go out of their way to make sure you have a wonderful experience! Thank you both for going beyond and thank you to Maria who was such a delight!.
