Located on a 17–acre campus bordering the Tongass National Forest and Indian River, its primary mission is the rehabilitation of sick and injured eagles, hawks, falcons, owls, and other birds of prey which are brought in from all over Alaska. The Center (the largest of its type in the state, and one of the largest in North America) receives between 100–200 birds a year, with many suffering from gunshot wounds and traffic accident-related trauma. The Center's goal is to introduce the birds back into the wild, once they are healed and retrained in "raptor life skills" (such as flying) in the enclosed, Bald Eagle Flight-Training Center. A few of the animals that could not be returned to nature have become permanent guests. You will see up to two dozen resident eagles, hawks, owls, and ravens, who assist in the Center’s secondary function, that of public education.

Here you will have the opportunity to get within twenty-five feet of our distinctive Brown Bear in a naturalized setting. The three-quarter acre habitat, set against the National Forest, is the largest bear habitat in North America and is complete with covered viewing areas. Meet their experienced rescuers as they share their love and knowledge of this often feared, but yet revered creature of the forest.  Learn the challenges they experience as they seek to rescue these incredible giants.

100% worth the $$, visited Park. Exhibit, Eagles Sanctuary, Hatchery and Totem National park. Got to see it all with an amazing guide who took us straight back to the ship since we were the last tour. I recommend this and accommodations were made for my mother, they were AWSOME.

This was the best $$ I have spent, a 3 hours tour that took us everywhere and Sharon was so nice, patient and knowledgeable. My mom is a bit older and has trouble walking, they accommodated her with no issues. They had umbrellas for when it rained and made every stop memorable. I honestly can't choose a favorite location as I loved the bears, I am obsessed with Eagles and Totum poles hand carved are priceless. All the photos below are from my experience 9/14/2023... thank you it was AMAZING AND GREAT PRICE...

This tour we were supposed to see Bears raptors and totem poles. We did in fact see all of the above. I am sure this tour could have been fantastic. However, our tour guide was probably the worst tour guide I’ve ever had on any excursion in any city. he made it very clear. His name was Stephen with a V not a PH and absolutely anything that somebody did or said was no no no no no. I got told I wasn’t allowed to talk to birds at the sanctuary. Another girl was told she was not allowed to put hand sanitizer on in the van. My friend got yelled at for having water on her umbrella even though it was pouring down rain I later found out our tour guide was not even allowed to come into the gift area of the raptor center because he’s given them nothing but problems and I see why. Another old lady wanted to take a picture during the film at the totem sent her and he tapped her on the shoulder and said no no no. A very poor attitude, and in full van not one person gave even a dollar tip. I’d recommend Tours not the tour guide.

Hi Angela, I'm so sorry your guide didn't live up to the great reviews he normally gets! I'm not sure why? We will double down on training and make sure this is addressed. I pray the rest of your trip went great!
