In Oct 2010 I took a group of my friends on a tour with SDSA. The tour and the staff were outstanding. The boats are a total blast. You'll never find anything else like this. You really get a sence of freedom. I fealt secure and well taken care of the entire trip. I highly suggest this activity when you are in San Diego.

This was a fantastic adventure to book for my family. We planned this vacation for my soon to be 16 year old son. He loves the beach, surf, sun, water, etc. Normally we head to Rocky Point, Mexico but decided to do a San Diego trip instead. It was a surprise for him and it was a hit! This was truly a very unique adventure and enjoyed by all four of us – me, my hubby, my 6 year old, and 16 year old. Instead of the same old visit to the beach or walking around the harbor to get pictures, this interactive 1.5 hour boat ride will be one to talk about for a long time since you are the driver on this tour. None of us have ever driven a boat and rest assured it is VERY easy to drive. The boat does have some zip to it when you need to get up and go; so let your hair down and enjoy the ocean spray. We all loved the “live bait stop” where the seals like to hang out. You get to be so close to the animals, get some great pictures and enjoy them in their own habitat than seeing them at Sea World. Our tour guide, Gerard, was fabulous and he did a great job guiding the group through the harbor. Seeing every point of interest in the harbor up close in the water made it even better. You almost want to yell out to the visitors on shore that they need to do this – it’s so fun! I will be recommending this to everyone I know who might be coming to San Diego. This should be #1 on the list of “Must Do’s” here.

San Diego Speed Boat Adventures provide a very enjoyable tour of San Diego Bay. Our tour guide (I think his name was Steve) was funny and very informative. The best part of this tour is that you get to drive (pilot?) your own speed boat. There are points during the tour when you can go full throttle and fly across the water, catching air off the waves and wake from other boats. Be warned: you DO get bounced around but if you're prepared for this it's no problem and part of the fun. Be sure to bring a waterproof camera and be very familiar with its functions so you won't have to fiddle with it too much during the tour. You'll definitely want to take many pictures and videos. The whole tour, including the orientation, takes about 2 hours. The tour guide gives information and directions via a two-way radio mounted in your boat. We have lived in the San Diego area for a few years and really enjoyed seeing the bay from a different angle and learning some new things.
