We took this tour and absolutely loved it. Kathy is informed, witty and really approachable. The history of the Castro is extraordinary. An absolute must.

Kathy at Cruising the Castro is a phenomenon. Not only is her passion and knowledge of the area and history endless, she also seems to know everybody that you meet. This tour offers an insight into the history and politics of the area and country, but what comes across most, is that this 45 block neighbourhood is a real community more like a small village than a big city. As you are walking around Kathy will be explaining historical landmarks ( I had no idea the rainbow flag had been around that long) whilst offering a cheery hello to locals that you pass on the street. Of all the walking tours I have done this was the most friendly and the one that offered a glimpse into a community instead of just site seeing. I cannot recommend this tour enough.

My 3 kids ages 11 12 and 17 and I took Kathy's tour during our last morning in San Francisco on our California vacation I don't think I can adequately describe the warmth that Kathy brings to her work. The tour is very educational for those who want to better understand the Castro district and the LGBTQIA movement. As Kathy stated so well it is about human rights. I agree. My kids really enjoyed the tour and tbought Kathy was awesome. Thanks again Kathy! Stuart Nick Sana and Matthew.
