My friends and I were in SF for the weekend, we stayed in the Castro and of course we 'd like to know more about the Castro. We chose Cruisin' The Castro Walking Tours that was led by Kathy. Kathy was amazing, she was very informative and knew her history of the Castro and the LGBT movements past and current very well. We thoroughly enjoyed her tour and would recommend it to many of our friends :D

Kathy who led the tour had a wealth of knowledge of the Castro and it's history. She's also clearly a big contributor to the local community judging by the number of people who said hello as the tour progressed. This is a great way to learn the history of the Castro, a slice of the equal rights history and an insight into where to go for drinks after. I would recommend watching the Film Milk before the tour although it's not essential

I have been on a lot of tours and Kathy was the first that felt more like a friend you were hanging out with rather than a tour guide. The tour was informative and emotional for me and my father who is gay and raised me in Texas during a time when it was still very taboo. We felt a lot of pride learning about Harvey Milk and other heroes of the gay rights movement. We enjoyed touring the neighborhood and getting familiar with how it developed over the years and what it is like today. My dad who is retired and my baby were able to do this walk.
