This is the only shark tour in the USA and to our knowledge the only tour where guests do not get in the water to view the sharks. Delight in close-up views of sharks and a variety of other marine life. In this eco-friendly catamaran, travel through shallow waters to a location a few miles from shore, observing dolphins, stingrays, barracudas and native birds along the way. We did see sharks and the children were able to feed them. The team member feeding the sharks was very knowledgeable about sharks and I learned a few things! Also the dolphins were fabulous!! The poor rating is for clay. Do not smoke on the boat!! Really cannot go 2 hrs without a smoke. Also no women needs to ‘look at’ you. Oh and can the team use another word besides ‘guys’!! You asked for everyone’s attention. I put my phone away and sat quietly listening. I already knew where the life vests were kept. Benches did not open, cubicles for customer’s belonging under benches, no down stairs on boat… only can be in the zippered compartments above. I am a mate on private chatters and I give that same type of speech. If I had paid for the trip I would have requested refund and gotten off the boat! As a local I will not recommend this experience. Clay, your misogyny does not lend itself to the experience!

We certainly recall hosting you and your family for our shark adventure so its best we clarify how things unfortunately began the tour. Each tour, as you know being a “mate” begins with safety instructions which requires all passenger’s attention to the captain as we point out details on the boat. This will require that both men and women “look at” the captain while pointing out where the lifejackets are, how they work, trash disposal location, complimentary drinks cooler, etc. This is a Coast Guard requirement. Upon Captain Clay calling for everyone’s attention you continued to chat away loudly to your group and upon his second request you did stop talking while keeping your back facing him the entire time as he delivered the instructions. Hearing that you know better as a mate it presents yourself as even more disrespectful to our captain that is taking you to sea with the intentions of safety. Perhaps your ego bested you that morning. It is unclear in your details about the issue with the benches and lifejacket location. Everyone should know that storage and lifejackets are easily accessible. Your criticism regarding smoking is one that we certainly can improve upon despite that Captain Clay is as courteous as possible about his habit. Know that accusation claiming that Captain Clay has a misogynistic attitude is out of line all over using the word “guys” when calling your attention to “look at” him. Truly we wish that you would have departed our boat, we would have refunded the family member who paid for the ticket. Lastly it is nice to hear that you enjoyed the shark and dolphin presentation with your family while learning some great facts. Know that we truly appreciate the gratuity that your family provided for the tour.
