So my husband and I opted for the Grand Canyon 5-in-1 West Rim day tour which we did on Sunday 8th March 2020. It worked out at about £200pp and included in that price was pick up from our hotel on the Las Vegas strip, quick stop off at Hoover Dam, and three points to visit whilst at the West Rim before a quick stop off at the Joshua Tree Forest on the way back to the hotel. The sights we saw were amazing, but I'm rating it lower because I don't feel we got value for money. Our stop off at Hoover Dam consisted of about 30 minutes at most from two viewing points - one overlooking the dam from the walkway side, and one overlooking Lake Mead from a car park/viewing point. It would have been nice to have had access to the Hoover Dam Museum itself included in the price, so that we could have had an opportunity to explore it some more but sadly this was not the case. After leaving Hoover Dam we then travelled to the West Rim where there were 3 stops - none of which were done by our guide. The guide dropped us off and we were left to our own devices to take the West Rim shuttle bus to each stop and navigate our own way from there. Hualapai Ranch was quiet with very little open (possibly due to it being out of season slightly which is understandable). There was no guide on hand to show us around or offer any history/narrative and we had to make the most of it ourselves. Eagle Point was the next stop where the Skywalk is located. Again, this trip would have been better value for money had the price of the Skywalk been included but this was an additional expense. The last stop was Guano Point which offered some spectacular views over the canyon. It was at Guano Point where our lunch was included, but the food wasn't great! The Joshua Tree forest consisted of a walk around a 'hike' which I can only describe as a stone circular pathway which took 5 minutes to do before getting back into the bus for the trip back to the hotel. My husband and I opted for this tour as neither of us had been to the Grand Canyon before. There's no denying the spectacular views, but for this to be advertised as a 'guided tour' is somewhat misleading! I also think the tour was overpriced for what we got and certainly if I were to visit Vegas again, I would much prefer to hire a car and make my own way there. The cost to hire the car for the day along with all admissions would work out far cheaper.

Thank you for the review. The Hoover Dam stop is advertised as a photo stop only, the tour of the interior of the dam and visitors center as well as the Grand Canyon West Rim is a different tour altogether. This should have been explained clearly, who did you purchase from? I would like to follow up and find how you thought the dam was included. Regarding the West Rim, it was virtually closed because of the Coronavirus scare and did completely close a couple of days later. You at least were lucky to go, we are now cancelling all tours to the west rim. This is a troubled time and we are doing the best we can under the circumstances. Please come and visit us again and I'll do something special for you. Will Tryon VP/Owner
