Our tour guide, Kelly was very good. Her driving was excellent, knowledge of the area and wineries was very good and she was a nice hostess. Midway through the morning, she offered cold drinks and a nice cheese and cracker selection to tide us over until lunch. She nicely interfaced with personnel at each of our three destinations. She also offered suggestions for additional visits in our unplanned time over the next few days. We did try one of these (Peju) and found it to be excellent. We would have liked to visit more, but there is only so much time. On another note, I found the arrangement process a bit uncoordinated. I do not have specific suggestions. Time between contacts seemed long and not initiated by Platypus (via e-mail or call). Also, In our final week, I thought I had made final arrangements when Doug called reviewing a prior itinerary. It was bizarre. I had to remind him where we ended upon winery suggestions.

I'm glad the tour was such a success and I apologize for the apparent confusion of our planning co-ordinator. Fortunately, it all seemed to be ironed out to your satisfation by tour day. I have been on the Trolley tour which was good, but this was great. James ,our guide, did a superb job taking us to off the beaten track to wonderful wineries that treated us like family. We were lucky enough to see the grapes being processed at many of the vineyards as they had just been brought in from a night of picking. The lunch was delightful as well as James knowledge. It was so nice to have a driver that was very personable and treated everyone so well. Take this small group tour, you will have no regrets!

I will be the first to tell anyone I have not been on a lot of wine tasting tours but I will tell you what I liked about this tour. First Kelly our tour guide was very informative and very approachable, and broke the ice when we met the other people on the tour with us. Second there are many wineries in Napa Valley and picking wineries to visit on your own would be quite an effort so this tour lifted that burden. Third the four wineries we did visit were enough of a variety to give you a good taste of the Napa Valley wines. Fourth wine tasting fees in Napa Valley are a fact and the tour price does not include them however Platypus Tours does get a discounted price for them which makes the the price of the tour very reasonable. Fifth and probably the most important thing is that you do not have to drive to any of the wine tasting locations, believe you me you cannot participate in any wine tasting and not feel the effects of the wine. This makes it safer for everyone and you can enjoy the wine and not worry about being impaired if you were driving.
