This was our first visit to Napa. My husband and I took our 21 year old son for a fun day trip to celebrate him turning 21. We chose this particular tour because of the amazing reviews, and I must say I was a bit disappointed. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. Our guide was wonderful! He was witty, engaging and very knowledgeable! He even let us stop at a small Olive Oil store at the end (which ended up being one of our favorite spots!). The bus was super spacious and comfortable and well air conditioned on a super hot day! Lunch was yummy with sandwiches and salads prepared by the driver. Now for the areas of improvement. We had informed the tour when booking that we were celebrating our son's 21st birthday thinking they would take that into consideration when planning our group. Unfortunately, we were put in a group with 60-70 year olds, many of whom had difficulty walking longer distances. Accordingly, at many of the stops, the majority rule took precedence and the group opted to stay indoors and forgo tours of the vineyards, etc. So, we were stuck in small tasting rooms indoors for a large portion of the trip. Very disappointing. We visited 4 wineries and it felt extremely rushed. We were constantly rushed to finish a wine to be poured the next. And then rushed out the door to get to the next venue. Also, there was NO VARIETY in the wineries we visited...they were all small, family run vineyards with very mediocre wines. And there was ABSOLUTELY NO SCENERY.

Hello Anna - I'm so sorry we didn't better impress you. Having looked over the wineries Army (your guide) chose to visit that day, I note that pretty much all of them were picturesque, with lovely vineyard views back over various parts of the Napa Valley. Admittedly, none of those is known for the stunning views we're able to get from many of the mountainside wineries. I apologize for that, but on a busy summer Saturday, our guides are often unable to book into their first or second choice wineries. Also, I'm sorry that the other guests on board were not the best demographic match for your son's 21st birthday celebration; we really don't know that much about our guests before they show up for the tour, and I've always thought it would be potentially inappropriate and presumptuous to make such inquiries. If we would be so fortunate as to have you consider doing another tour with us in the future, I'd like to suggest that you let us put together a customized private tour for you. I think we could meet your needs much better that way. Again, I hope you will accept my apology.

We had such a great time! Tour pick us right from our hotel. We loved all the wineries except the last one. We loved our guide Joe. We would recommend in the future.

This wine tour was fantastic. We really appreciated the responsiveness and organization of Platypus before the tour - booking was a breeze and they were great to correspond with. Our driver Chris was helpful, accommodating, knowledgeable and really positive and engaging! The tour was smooth and organized, we really felt like everything was looked after for us and they attempted to accommodate the groups preferences, which was awesome. Three of the four wineries were fantastic. Would highly recommend!
