We thoroughly enjoyed our bird’s eye views of Temecula with California Dreamin’. Our pilot was an experienced navigator and explained the hot air balloon process. We appreciated his friendly and assuring personality and his recounting of his ballooning adventures. The staff were warm and helpful. We would recommend California Dreamin’ for an unforgettable balloon experience.

These are my reasons for an average rating (based on my personal experience/ expectations): I paid for a private ride, as it was for a birthday, and read other reviews about how they overcrowded baskets. (They do but it might be normal or due to weight, I don’t know) My total was $1,500 (not including tip) for 5 people and was in the air for about 45 minutes. We arrived exactly at 5 am but weren’t up in the air until about 6:10 am. Regardless if your party is 2 or 5 it still costs $1,500. My family and I had a great time, the ride was enjoyable, and our pilot was nice. But it was nothing extraordinary. This was our first time on a hot air balloon so I don’t have anything to compare but for the price, I wouldn’t say it was worth it. They sell you on the experience of watching the balloon be inflated and deflated but you get the same when you share a ride. I know this because there were 5 other parties (12 people, 1 basket) and we all took off at the same place. They said they would have a banner for us since it was for a birthday, and while they did it was small and nothing was custom or special about it. The other party had one as well. They did give us champagne after the flight, and a complimentary wine after. But you get that also with a shared ride. I know this because I read the review on Yelp from someone that had a shared ride. The reason I don’t think the private ride is worth it, is because our experience was nothing extraordinary. I was expecting a more luxurious experience for the price. Or at least something special you wouldn’t get from a shared ride. This isn’t to say our ride was bad, because it wasn’t and the view was great, and I understand to a point you’re really paying for the view. However, I did notice other balloons (different companies) in the air were there much longer than us. We got in the air after them but came down before them. If you’re a couple I really wouldn’t recommend a private ride, it would essentially be $750 per person, and we paid $300 per person. I’m not sure how it is for larger groups but regardless it’s $1,500 for a private ride. I know this because in my confirmation email it said “party of 2 $1,500” and had to remind them it was for 5 and the receptionist told me “yes that was a mistake but I have you written down for 5 in my notebook” Maybe if your party is larger and you can split the cost to a more reasonable one it could be worth it for you but I don’t know how big your party can be. Again, this is just from my experience/ expectations based off price and personal preference. I’m not sure how much it is for a shared ride but If you want to come here, I would say try the share ride first and not for a special occasion.

I appreciate how educated our pilot was regarding the weather conditions and navigating the hot air balloon. He explained the whole process to us which eased my anxiety regarding flying. We met up at 5AM and I would highly recommend making sure you have enough time for coffee in the morning. Our flight was an hour long with complimentary mimosas afterwards. It was my birthday celebration so they gifted me with a bottle of wine from the owners winery which was very very sweet! Overall amazing experience and I would highly recommend them for anyone else interested in going on a hot air balloon ride in Temecula.
