We did the combined trip of swamp and plantation. The plantation was really interesting however an extra 30 minutes there would have been beneficial as we didn't quite get to see everything we wanted to. The swamp was amazing, we learnt a lot about the swamp and its history. We saw a lot of raccoons and alligators and got to hold a baby alligator. Captain Bishop was really knowledgeable; funny and welcoming. The bus driver and tour guide were helpful and kept us all safe. The bus was clean and well ventilated. Very happy we did this trip and would recommend

Thanks Sarah. Over time we adjust the time at the plantation and the swamp based on the prevailing sentiment. Your recommendation for more time at the Plantation is noted.

We started on the bus with Jim, who was extremely personable and knowledgeable about so much. It was extremely informative and I enjoyed hearing everything he knew. The plantation stop was great too. Nanette was our guide and she was also knowledgeable and moved the tour along quickly but still gave a full showing, even to our larger group. The grounds were very interesting, as was hearing about the slave revolt. Everything was tastefully and respectfully done, which was leary about. My only complaint is that we had quite a bit of extra time before and after the tour and it seemed to drag during those times. The swamp tour was also extremely interesting. I had been on other swamp tours in the past but this was seemed more authentic with more information about what really goes on in the swamps. T Tom had some "creatures" on board too. My only complaint about this is kind of the same; it was long. We didn't go far and it seemed like a lot of time was spent in this small area. But we saw a lot of wildlife. I think an hour would have been sufficient. Overall, a great experience and worth an afternoon.

Jim (with one M) entertained and educated us on the way out to the plantation. Super knowledgeable and has a fun way with sharing that knowledge. Once we got to the Plantation we wandered the grounds a bit before we met for our tour. I was lucky enough to get in a group with Jane as our guide. What a little spit fire! Informative with dry wit, it was thoroughly enjoyable. The huge live oaks with the Spanish moss hanging from their boughs were breathtaking. On to the swamp tour where we jumped on a pontoon boat to cruise the bayou. Captain Danny expertly navigated the water ways telling stories about the native flora and fauna while calling out to the alligators by name. It was a still and sweltering day (but zero mosquitos) so we didn’t see much activity but we did luck out in seeing a owl fly across the sky. The raccoons and alligators are pretty much conditioned to associate the boats with food as the gators get treats of marshmallows and raccoons get an assortment of other treats. We saw two different groups of raccoons and plenty of small alligators, plus Captain Danny passed around Bruce, a baby alligator of about 4 years old. I’d be remiss to leave out our bus driver Alton! He got us there and back safe and sound and on time ( even when poor Robin from Va left her phone behind and we went back to get it. LOL). Alton stayed smooth and steady even during the make shift Mardi Gras party on the way back. Laissez Le Bon Temps Rouler!
