Since we are in SLC for only a few days we decided to take a tour to maximize what we could see. We booked this tour through our campground. They picked us up at the campground and the tour guide, John, gave us some basic information before we left. Once we got started, John was able to provide us with history of how SLC was settled, pointed out many famous houses, explained the energy system, the transportation system, the history of the Church of the Latter Day Saints, and much more. We were in the audience of the weekly broadcast of the Morman Tabernacle Choir presentation. It was amazing. We toured Temple Square and then went to the Capitol building and toured, learning more history and topography of the area. At the end, we were taken to one of the oldest buildings where we had the option of lunch and/or shopping. On the way back we saw the Olympic stadium and cauldron used for the 1992 games. Although the tour was supposed to end at 1330, with the group's consent, he extended it an hour. John was an excellent tour guide who has lived in SLC most of his life. He is a wealth of knowledge and shares it willing, taking time to answer questions. We would highly recommend this tour. Unfortunately you can only see the Choir perform on Thursday evening for rehersal, and the Sunday performance, but the tours take you to Temple Square on the other days. Thank you to John for his excellent narration, and making our day so pleasant.
