When it comes to Colorado whitewater, hardly anyone knows about the San Miguel River. Which is kind of a surprise! Given how much fun it is, on top of being in proximity to bougie and beloved Telluride.

The rafting section is gorgeously scenic, exciting for all experience levels, and pretty much a must if you want to spend the morning like a local. Its red sandstone canyon juxtaposed by flourishing pine forests make for a picturesque setting to recreate on this Rocky Mountain river.

Anyone who loves the outdoors will have an absolute hoot on this tour, whether it’s your first or hundredth time rafting. Just ask our guides, most— if not all!— will agree that the San Miguel is their favorite river to run.

My daughters and I had the most spectacular day on the San Miguel! It was our first time rafting, and nerves weren’t a bit high, but our guide (Robby) was a calming presence, and a lot of fun, too. I highly recommend Mild to Wild if you want a safe, fun, and spicy time! 🌞

We had an amazing time with John on the river today! From the guides who helped greet us and get us geared up to the ones who drove us home, every person we interacted with was welcoming, kind, and funny. It felt like being among friends. The office staff we interacted with pre-trip was top notch, too! We haven’t done this in ages, and John was so encouraging and clearly knowledgeable of the river and all of the terrain and wildlife nearby. It was clear he was doing any amazing job steering because there were plenty of obstacles and it was really a pretty smooth ride as far as these things go. We got good paddling in and some gorgeous sightseeing to boot! Absolutely loved this stretch of river and would recommend this company to anyone! Definitely a highlight of our trip to Telluride! Thanks to all of the awesome guides who helped us today!

Our group of 12 adults and kids had a blast on the river with Mild to Wild Rafting! Our guides, Rob and Nate were awesome too!
