We visited Pearl Harbor years ago. At that time they were collecting money for a new visitors center. Well, it's all finished now and I must say, I liked it better before. Too many choices now...almost impossible to see it all in a day. Things are more spread out, etc. That said, this place is still a must-see if you find yourself in Oahu. so much history. There are two museums you can walk through at your own pace. Lots of information given here. Some screens with accounts of people who were there. Lots of artifacts. After that we saw a brief movie and then took the shuttle boat over to the memorial. Such a solemn place. I found it quite moving that so many men who survived that day still chose this as their final resting place at the end of their lives. Their names are inscribed at the end of the hall. You can clearly look down into the water and see the USS Arizona, resting on the bottom of the harbor. After all this time, she still leaks about a quart of oil each day. You can smell it and see it. Also, around the complex are other artifacts such as the ship's bell from the USS Arizona. There is a large book store and gift shop. The day we visited there was a Pearl Harbor survivor, signing his book...how moving is that!? There are restrooms and eating places as well.
