Standing out in the open train seeing the red rocks up close. Very nice staff. Informative guide. Great strawberry smoothie and prickly pear lemonade that both my daughter and I enjoyed.

Excellent. Comfortable, enjoyable, good food, excellent bar. Very organized, informative guide, awesome staff. It is a very relaxing and enjoyable way to see the countryside in a spacious setting. You had comfortable seats where you could relax and look out the window, a delicious snack/appetizer, a fully stocked bar, a lavatory, outdoor seating if you wanted a closer view of the scenery. Our bartender Aila was friendly, knowledgeable and made a great drink. Our guide outside provided wonderful and interesting facts about the railroad and the area. Just a great way to enjoy an afternoon. Highly recommend. Small children may get bored and it is a four hour event.

This adventure was perfect for a day that was chilly with some rain in the forecast so that we didn't want to hike. We were seated on the comfy couch with a couple that we did not know. However, we enjoyed getting to know them and sharing traveling tips along the way. I was a little concerned after reading some of the negative comments but felt they were unfounded after we thoroughly enjoyed the ride. The charcuterie snack was substantial and tasty, we didn't feel cheated because we were on the couch instead of at a table top and we didn't feel as though the booze was being pushed on us. There was a guide outside on the open air car that would come in and give us a heads up when we were nearing a point of interest so that we could decide if we wanted to go outside to view it. Since it was pretty chilly, we appreciated this notice so that we didn't have to be outside for long periods. And yes, you look at the very same landscape on the way back, but I could look at it for days and not tire of it! When I registered online, they were trying to convince me to preorder some food packages that they offered. I didn't order any food because I knew they provided a snack, which turned out to be quite filling. Those that did preorder the food were picking up bags in the depot and most were eating them outside at picnic tables before even getting on the train. Others who brought theirs on the train didn't end up eating their included snack. So I would say, eat a big breakfast, forego their lunch offerings and then enjoy the snack tray. As a side note, we knocked around Jerome in the morning and also toured the Tuzigoot Monument before heading to the depot. Enjoyed both. They tell you to be at the depot an hour early, but that is not necessary. Afterwards we stopped and ate dinner at Nic's in Old Towne Cottonwood... had a great meal. Don't let the negative Nellies dissuade you from taking this adventure. Go with a positive attitude and it will be a nice adventure.
