We actually took an RCI review at our resort and got one ticket for free. We sat in the first class car- got champagne and chips and tapas to eat. We bought 2 soadas for $2 each. It was a hot day so we stayed inside. It was a nice trip but 4 hrs. is long. It is the sae view both ways- up and down. I said to my hubby it would have been better but we had just been to the Grand Canyon and that is stupendous! It would be fun for families with kids to be on a train. It was clean and the service good!!

4 hours was far too long especially as it was 2 hours there and 2 hours back seeing the same scenery.

We know our journey may not fit everyone's taste but thank you David for riding with us. Yes, the trip is the same route into the canyon and back, but for some that's the draw. Along with the scenery, is the history, culture and the example of fortitude it took to build this. This line was constructed in 1911 by a lot of hardworking souls that didn't get to go home for over a year. We appreciate you taking time to share your thoughts.

This is great for singles, couples or families. The train was clean and comfortable and the views stupendous. Get there early to choose your seat. (They assign the car, but you choose the seat within the car.) The scenery is amazing and changes along the way. The train goes out and back on the same line, so I thought I might get bored on the way back, but it actually seemed more beautiful than the way out. We spent most of our time on the open-air car that was next to the first class car, and I don't know if this is available in coach. (We found out about this at the last minute so had to purchase first class cabin seats because coach was sold out. I don't know the price differential, but the first class section was very comfortable with individual tables that seated two or four people. Hot snacks--chicken wings and egg-rolls--and a fruit plate and veggie tray were laid out for the guests. They offered a small toast of champagne or sparking cider before the start of the ride. The train includes a bar so you can get a wide variety of drinks.) We definitely recommend this experience.
