We got to the station early which was good because we had time to read the history boards and explore the gift shop and picnic area. Having first class tickets our car was right next to the station house. On boarding and being assigned seats we were served a complimentary beverage and snack. Then we were on our way. the trip was both exciting and relaxing at the same time. There was always something to see out the window while the gentle rocking of the car lulled us to a state of calm. The views are breathtaking at times and simply gorgeous the rest of the ride. The narration was infomative without being intrusive. The wildlife rescue people brought along an eagle that they rehabed from a broken wing but could not return to the wild because it could no longer fly. Up close to a bird of prey was exciting. Our hostess, Carrie was attentive and knew every bit of the scenery and history. A really great trip for a view of an area not serviced by any road but worth seeing.

We took this tour and it was awesome. We went first class but considering that food was included (veggies, fruit, small sandwiches, wings and cookies) the price was worth it. Would definitely do it again.

thanks to a review below we popped by the ticked office and purchased our tickets with the AARP discount. This way we were able to 'justify' the upgrade to first class! To get the discount you need to call or visit; it's not available online. In that it's more comfortable and spacious and you have food and drinks available First Class is worth the additional expencs. Still if you are budget conscious and expect to spend a lot of time in the open cars (for the best views) just go the ordinary way. I could go either way and be happy! The staff were lovely providing lots of information and pointing out features as we passed by. During the turnaround break there was a great history talk on the area. This is a great way to spend an afternoon, slowly crusing along in beautiful surroundings. YMMV
