This was a great tour. We were in Memphis to start the Civil Rights trail, and I am so glad that we started our trip with Queen's tour! It set the tone for our entire stay in Memphis, and our whole family came away with a much better understanding of the lasting impact of slavery, Jim Crow laws, the Civil Rights era, and eventual mass emigration on challenges still xfaced by the city today. Queen's tour was jam packed with stories of notable people and places, both past and present, thought-provoking conversation, book recommendations, and soul music. She brought the landscape to life and showed us buildings and neighborhoods that would have otherwise remained unknown to us. Queen loves Memphis and showed us so many positive things that are happening such as collective food gardens, public artwork, and African American owned businesses throughout the city. We saw the temple where MLK gave his last and famous Mountaintop speech, the street where Coretta Scott King led a march with the sanitation workers after MLK's assasination, and the I Am A Man monument, and when my family visited the Civil Rights Museum at the Lorraine Motel days later, we were so glad that we had done Queen's tour first due to the context it provided. My teens, husband and I highly recommend this tour!
