Ojai has a 100-year history of ceramics. Our studio, located a mile from the city center, is surrounded by nature, in the midst of a fruit orchard.

We are a working studio for many of the great artists in the Ojai Valley. Visitors may watch potters work, and may "try their hand" at a range of techniques. After making their pottery, they may may pay a small fee for our staff to trim, glaze and high-fire the work. This "finishing" work takes about 3 weeks. Visitors may also come back to glaze their OWN work. There is no charge for this. AND we will even ship your pieces anywhere in the country...

This was a “play with clay” class, but we were not really allowed to play. We were given a quick tour and fairly detailed instructions for beginner potters and then went ahead and started. However whenever we made any mistakes we were chastised and the instructors took over and essentially made our pieces themselves. The owner (?) also made things far too complicated than necessary regarding the glaze colors. All the personalities were not compatible with teaching for sure.

Working on the pottery wheel was filled with laughter and joy. Our instructors helped us to make the best looking pottery possible. They gave lots of hands on help and instruction. I was so surprised at what I actually made!! I made the reservation directly with Firestick. They provided aprons and all the tools necessary to work on the wheel. They even had nail clippers for those of us whose nails were long and got in the way of working with the clay. I opted to have them glaze and fire 4 of the 5 pieces I created. I received them 2 weeks later and I'm very happy with the outcome. I would definitely return for another workshop!!

Call and make your own appointment. I paid double through trip advisor vs calling directly. Your in for a fun few hours! You may not grasp the techniques but the instructor will make sure that you succeed.
