TJ was a fantastic guide as we enjoyed a four-hour tour on a crisp late-September day. His grandparents were full-time residents of the canyon and TJ spent a lot of time working and exploring in the canyon throughout his life. As a result, we learned about botany, history, warfare, clan linkages, medicine, zoology, property law and quicksand. TJ's open-air vehicle made for amazing, unobstructed views and the trick he taught us about how to harvest prickly pear was put to immediate use when we got home. We stayed at and ate at the Thunderbird Lodge inside the Canyon. Combined with TJ's tour, we really felt like we had really immersed ourselves in the de Chelly experience.
