Half an hour from Kissimmee, we booked for a 60-minute airboat tour from Boggy Creek. Arriving early, we enjoyed a look round and a very knowledgeable talk on Native American history in Florida from their on-site historian.
After this, it was out onto the lake and a chance to see the Florida wildlife up close.
Our airboat Captain Conner expertly guided us through the rushes and up close to alligators from 4 to 15 feet long.
Taking the 3.45 tour meant that as the ride went on, we found more and more birds amongst the reeds and a variety of other wildlife. Bald Eagles, Banded Water Snakes, Herons, Egrets, and a lot more that beat my identification skills.
60 minutes is definitely recommend, as 30 would barely scratch the surface of the Florida ecosystem.
