My husband and I spent a day with Jake, the owner of the company and a “foot soldier” in the march over 50 years ago from Selma to the steps of the capital in Montgomery.
Jake shared his encyclopedic knowledge of the city from the founding up until today, and I swear nothing was left out. We started with perhaps the best coffee I’ve ever had at the shop inside the Kress storefront. After learning about the slave market and seeing where the Confederacy was born and the Civil War was started, we went to Sunday service at Martin Luther Kings’ church. All of that was just the beginning.
Jake was so interesting, very personable, and completely generous with his time. We could not have asked for more. Please consider seeing Montgomery with him, he will deepen your understanding of all the conflicts which got us to where we are today.
