The best part of the luau was the show--everything else needed a lot of work. First, we waited over 30 min outside to get into the tiny venue. They must've crammed about 300 people into a space meant for 75! The tables were super narrow and sat unevenly on the ground with old plastic green tablecloths and old plastic chairs. They were in so tightly that it was hard to walk between the tables.
The mai tais, although free, were WEAK or not alcoholic. Even with the additional shot of "rum" they had no effect. Then we just sat and waited an hour before the food line opened and they missed a great opportunity to educate us about the Hawaiian culture. When the food lines opened, they released us by tables, and those with reserved tables got to go first. It seemed everyone had reserved tables as we were almost last. The food was okay--some of the foods were better than others and some were bland and tasteless. The best part was the Kahlua pork and probably the only thing that saved this review from getting a lower rating. It wasn't until the food line closed that the show started and then lasted about 40 min.
Next time on the island, we will look into another luau that is more authentic. By the way, at $100 per person, they cram people in here like this every night and make hand over fist for mediocre service and food. Save your money and choose another place!
