The most popular tour! Drive your own sled-dog team with 6 time Iditarod winner Dallas Seavey's team of mushers, handlers and champion dogs on real snow in the middle of summer surrounded by amazing scenery. Start this adventure with a helicopter ride over glaciers. We often see moose, black bears, Dall sheep and goats. Land on a glacier and enjoy a whole hour with champion sled dogs and their mushers that live here all summer. Take the dog team for a ride through real snow. You can stand on the runners and mush a dog team or just sit on the sled and let the mushers run the team. After your dogsled tour meet the canine athletes that pulled your sled, and of course take pictures with your favorite dogs. After the tour the helicopter takes you back to the lodge and you’ll fly over the lower glaciers where you can see the blue melt pools and the crevasses.

Total Tour Time: 1.5 hours - includes 1 hour with the dogsled team (aprox 30 min sled ride) and approx 30 min round trip flightseeing

DRESS FOR ALL WEATHER - the weather at dog camp is high elevation and may be cold and wet. Layers with an outer waterproof shell is recommended.
Alaska Helicopter Tours has Robinson 44s and ASTAR helicopters. We never guarantee the type of helicopter you will be flying in unless a private helicopter option is purchased. Parties with multiple separate bookings, or parties over 2 passengers may be in 2 helicopters, but will always be together for the tour.
VAN TRANSFERS TO DEPARTURE LOCATION NOT INCLUDED - can be added for a fee
BAGS/BACKPACKS/LOOSE STRAPS ARE NOT PERMITTED ON THE HELICOPTER - please leave all bags in the vehicle or we do have lockers to store them

Was a Very nice experience . The whole team was amazingly nice helpful and flexible. In spite of the bad weather which didn’t allow me to complete the trip on the first day attempt, the team made me feel safe and comfortable and rescheduled my trip as well . Absolutely loved this tour! Every moment was well orgunised from the chopper flight to the glacier landing and meeting the mushers. Friendly guides all round and really enjoyed talking to the head musher about working dogs in such extream conditions, and he was also interested in my working sheep dogs out where I live, in central australia (very hot). The young girl leading our team of dogs was absolutely lovely and did a great job of controlling the dogs. We had a great time and I could have stayed easily there all day just talking to the mushers!!! Highly reccomended and well worth every penny! Made a little girls dream come true!

This tour was without doubt the best experience ever. Jeff, the chopper pilot, was such a great guy. Great sense of humour and loads of interesting information. The dogs, including Nigel the very vicious terrier and Silver, the six month pup in training, were amazing. It was very clear from the moment we landed that the relationship between the mushers and their dogs was something I could have watched all day. The dogs love them and equally they loved their dogs. We were permitted to interact with the dogs as much as we liked and it was obvious that they were more interested in getting picked to be hitched to the sled to go for a run, than talking to us. These dogs are so fit and clearly love what they do. I could write about this fantastic adventure for hours but rather than reading my review, do yourself a favour and just go see and experience it for yourself. You won’t be disappointed. Our thanks to the very experienced team of mushers for answering all our questions and sharing your dogs with us. We enjoyed telling you all how life is like in the Australian outback too.
