This combined a helicopter ride, an incredible view of the mountains and glaciers, a dogsled ride and experience, and PUPPIES ! OK, seriously. We were well prepared for the experience from our knowledgeable guides upon our arrival. We saw a short safety video film, we put on our glacier boots, and soon we were in the air. The aerial view from the flight was amazing. We didn't just go right to the sledding camp, we got a GREAT scenic 15-20 minute ride. Soon we turned and in front of us was in the distance was the dog camp area. Really cool site. We landed and were immediately met by our guides who told us of mushing, the dogs, their life on a glacier (no tv, no cell connection, living in tents for months at a time, trip into town only once a week), all so very interesting and informative. Then a pack of dogs was tethered to the sled and they began barking in anticipation of the "run". SO COOL. We had a great ride, stopping along the way and changing places from sitting to standing on the sled, so everyone got a turn being in every position on the sled. We stopped and petted the dogs, talked to our rider who actually rides with these same dogs in the Iditeron. . . We returned to the camp and actually held a few of the puppies. . .
It was certainly a once in a lifetime experience, and worth every penny. Treat yourself, you will never regret it. I know I never will forget this wonderful excursion.
