Taking in the whole "experience," was really helpful in learning about and understanding the Amish way of life. The 40 minute movie, more or less, explained the "Rumspringa" or "running around" when an Amish youth chooses baptism within the their church, or instead leaves their community. The bus tour (bus holds maybe 18 people) was very nice. It winds through the area's countryside, with the "tour guide" driver explaining and answering questions on many facts about the Amish. Our tour guide, Kent, was very knowledgeable, seeing that he said that he had many Amish personal friends. The replicas of the Amish schoolhouse & homestead was also quite interesting. Although the tour guide on this section was very helpful in explaining this portion of the tour and answering many questions, it should not be expected that you will actually be in an actual schoolhouse or home of the Amish. They are just more or less show-and-tell learning aids. The buggy ride was also very nice with another very knowledgeable driver who answered any and all questions that were thrown at him.
We plan on going back to the Lancaster area soon & would like to take the Visit-In-Person Tour.
