We visited the lodge in early February. Michi was very clear when booking that he would send out a detailed text with the time of pick up from our hotel, which he did around 5pm. The drive up was comfortable, he was constantly checking if all passengers were warm enough and telling us about the lights and the probability of seeing them for that night. Michi and his wife Keiko were very welcoming and once everyone was settled there was coffee, tea, snacks, and enough chairs to lounge around while you waited for the lights. Michi participated in the Iditarod Trail sled dog race and tells you of his experience, which was very interesting to hear. Around midnight the lights started to appear, which you may not be able to see with your naked eye at first. Michi was great and super optimistic that the lights would appear more and they did late into the night. Even though our tour ended at 2am, Michi allowed us to view the lights until after 2am since they had appeared later, which was very nice. We enjoyed this lodge experience so much that we booked again the second to last night before we left Fairbanks, AK. The chances were slim again but around 1am Lady Aurora made her appearance and again Michi allowed us to stay past the tour end time to experience the beautiful show. Michi’s optimism was so motivating, and he assured us not to lose hope in seeing the lights one more time before we left Alaska. Throughout our entire trip, we would recommend anyone and everyone on other tours to use Aurora Husky Lodge to catch Lady Aurora. Thank you Michi and Keiko for a wonderful experience.
