I went on the tour of a meal in an Amish home. Our hostess Martha was gracious and inviting. She is so sweet and we got to see her after the meal as she fed two Pygmy goats that were 3 weeks old, I had met her the previous day on the Amish immersion tour by Lokal the same company. Dale was our tour guide for the tour and meal and he spoke clearly and shared a wealth of knowledge.
The meal was hearty and delicious. There were
fresh baked dinner rolls that were out of this world, homemade butter and homemade Concord grape jelly, peas and carrots. homemade apple sauce, scrumptious homemade pickled beets, seasoned crispy, cubed potatoes and tender, juicy pot roast that was mouth watering with a fresh salad of leafy greens, carrots and tomatoes. All the food was served family style and everyone at the meal ate as much as they wanted. There was plenty of food and you could get second helpings if you wanted. I had second helpings of the rolls with butter and jelly and beets. Cold water was served with the meal. For the dessert she served us hot apple crumb cobbler fresh out of the oven and homemade vanilla ice cream which I was the best I have ever had. I wish I could get the recipe. Then out hostess brought us a pumpkin pie with cinnamon on top and another container of pumpkin ice cream and fresh coffee for anyone who wanted it. This tour and meal was spectacular and exceeded my expectations. I enjoyed my meal, eating with other people and Dale is a knowledgeable tour guide of the area and subject. I highly recommend this tour.
