The experience was magical. It was a fun informative environment. The hosts Joy and David were great and made me feel at home. Let me know when it was a good time to go outside etc. Had warm cabin, bathroom, great snack, actual food. Highly recommend!

Joy and David were perfect hosts. Joy answered all of my questions ahead of time via phone and text. We had four kids age 14 down to 7 and she made sure they were comfortable. David took incredible pictures of our group and individual pics. They are the highlight of our trip. The cabin is warm, lots of snacks and hot chocolate or water. Tons of games, tables and couches. We drove ourselves because we are comfortable driving in snow and ice but roads were slick in places so definitely be careful if you choose to do that. We did two nights, both were clear so we saw the lights as faint pretty much the whole time but they were brightest and dancing around 12:30am. It was in the teens and pretty windy in mid March so definitely bundle up. Can’t say enough good things about the experience! Thanks!

We loved our experience at the Aurora Camp! We opted for the option with the transportation; I highly recommend this option during the winter season as you'd have to drive up a mountain in an icy road condition (there was a couple that came really late and missed the first huge aurora burst because they drove themselves). Once you get to the camp, you can stay in the heated lodge with plenty of tables/chairs, many couches, a clean bathroom with plumbing, and lots of snacks. They had chips, cup noodles, tea, hot cocoa, and etc., and they even made us pizza! You have the option of staying inside the warm lodge for as long as you'd like or outside to view the aurora/sky. They dim the lights inside the cabin so you can still view the sky/outside through the huge windows they have (makes for a great atmosphere to nap on the couches also). Even if you decide to rest inside the cabin, you won't miss any of the aurora as they'll actually announce any time there's a big burst. There's a huge, clear field area behind the lodge and that's where you go to view the aurora. Many people brought their own camera gear/tripod, but they also set up a camera to take pictures for/of you. They have you form a line to get everyone's picture taken every time there's a big burst. At the end of the night (around 1:30 am for us), they go around table by table to airdrop all the photos right there and then. I highly recommend this aurora camp for a comfortable aurora viewing. I definitely will come back next time I'm in Fairbanks. I also think it's a great option for anyone traveling with parents or any older people that just can't handle the extreme aurora chases.
