My wife and I wanted to experience the island from a ‘food perspective’ and what we got was much more. Not only were the foods that we experienced all 1st rate and delicious, but we learned so much about the islands food history and the goal to become much more sustainable that it currently is (90% of Kauai’s food is imported!). Marta stressed the importance of patronizing locations on the island that source local ingredients as much as possible, hence the 6 excellent locations visited on the South side tour. From wonderful scones, to amazing burgers, to incredibly tropical puréed fruit bowls, to fresh sushi, to super smooth gelato, to buttery stuffed croissants + a wonderful farmers market at the end to boot. We were able to use the lessons learned on the tour as we ate our way around the island.
Marta the owner knows food and is very knowledgeable regarding Kauai’s current gastronomic scene. Her husband Dan is also very interesting to talk to, as he is a professional local photographer; applying his skills to many of the Island’s food purveyors. We will be back again someday and would love to try going on their other 2 food tours!
