We toured DC today with the Hop-On Hop-Off bus with my daughter and grandsons (ages 10 & 14) and it was great. We were only in DC for a day and this tour allowed us to see everything. We started the tour at the Spy Museum, the first pick up of the day. We sat up top on the bus and there was enough room for all of us. We rode around and enjoyed the audio (Channel 2!) and seeing the sites. We got off at the Lincoln Memorial. It allowed us to take some great pictures and see the memorial up close. We got to see the Mall, too. Then we walked to the Korean War Memorial (under construction) which was impressive, and then walked back to the previous bus stop to see the Martin Luther King Memorial which was great. We jumped back on the bus at the MLK Memorial and got off at the Natural History Smithsonian. Jumped back on after the Smithsonian. We had no problems getting on and off. There was plenty of room. The bus frequency was great. If you download the Big Bus app, you can see exactly where all the buses are on the route so you know when they are coming. It was perfect for our day in DC and everyone said they would recommend it.

I live in Baltimore, MD & my parents came to visit for the weekend. We took a day trip to DC for the 4th of July- took the train in the AM & came back that night. We booked the tour weeks in advance. Once we arrived & were getting on the tour the driver said "just so you know, we are doing a limited tour today due to roads being closed". They offered for us to come back another day if we wanted the full tour for no extra cost, but I am a travel nurse so I won't be in Baltimore for much longer & my parents were going back to GA the following day. The tour was basically cut in half. We missed the Washington monument, WWII memorial, FDR & MLK memorials, Lincoln Memorial, Korean War memorial, Arlington cemetery, & the White House. Luckily we are fit individuals and were able to walk to visit all these sites, except for Arlington cemetery because we'd walked 11 miles at that point throughout the day and couldn't anymore. Although we understood that the road closures was not big bus company's fault, it would have been nice to have known when booking so that we could have planned accordingly. We also paid full price for the tour tickets and only saw half of the tour.......

We are so sorry for your experience. The drivers comment was to remind guests of information that was on the Big Bus Tours app and website for 2 weeks leading up to the 4th. We expected this and made arrangements to still provide guests with a tour of the city. Offering the next day at no cost benefit many other guests and unfortunately it did not fit your schedule. Please try us again when conditions are favourable.
