I went to the Bronx Zoo on the last night of the Holiday Lights on a whim. The tickets had been discounted by 30% and I thought why not? I am so glad that I went. It was an amazing show to walk around.
It really was a beautiful display of lights, music, activities like ice sculpture and comics performing and the restaurants were all open to the guests. Since it was the last night, it was busier early in the evening but by 9:00pm, it started to quiet down.
The lights took up much of the park and I almost missed the back section of the zoo when I went down a different path by the seal tanks towards the original part of the zoo. They had a musical Christmas tree and zebras on silts, costume characters taking pictures and white lights that adorned all the trees. There were all sorts of animals sculptures that lit the way along the paths and all sorts of contemporary Christmas songs were being played.
Even though Christmas was over and the Epiphany had passed, the lights really put me back into the holiday spirit and with it being such a rough Christmas this year, it was nice to have a bit of holiday cheer still come my way.
It was a GREAT evening!
