This living exhibit features hundreds of free-flying butterflies, typically more than 50 species at any given time, birds from around the world and an assortment of other animals including turtles and fish to experience firsthand. Skilled interpretive staff are available to help answer questions and provide visitors with a personal and highly engaging experience.

Visitors to Powell Hall will encounter signature permanent exhibition halls that explore the state’s unique habitats and rich cultural history, including information about some of Florida's early Native peoples. Visitors may view a Calusa Indian welcoming ceremony and mammoth and mastodon skeletons from the last ice age.

We booked as an activity on our way back home to Sarasota Fl. And it did not disappoint. The butterflies were beautiful and the entire museum was exciting and educational.

I really didn’t know what to expect. It’s part of University of Florida. There is a natural history area, currently a Spider exhibit, labs that you can watch thru windows, lots of info on butterflies and the butterfly house with a few birds. We could’ve spent more time there.

Very nice place. We enjoyed the scenic, relaxing surroundings with butterflies. So many displays if butterflies in the museum that they display them all the way to the ceiling where you can’t see them. Just amazing.
