Chelsea Market
Chelsea Market and the High Line are two of NYC's best attractions! This food and history tour features incredible insights and stories as well as some delicious food and fantastic NYC views. Plus, our tour guides are truly entertaining and it's enough food for lunch! Did you know that although the area was originally residential, markets have existed in the district since the 1840s. People moved into tenements in the Meatpacking District in the 1820s to escape epidemics in what was then the main part of New York. In 1900, 250 slaughterhouses and packing plants filled the area; and by the 1930s, those houses produced the nation’s 3rd-largest volume of dressed meats. Five meatpacking companies still operate in the district. Boutiques and bars are more common than rump roasts these days, and the neighborhood continues to evolve almost daily. Foods and activities on the tour include: • Slice of Sicilian style pizza from Filaga • VIP pastry sampler at Las Delicias Patisserie (gluten free & vegan available!) • Doughnuttery doughnut • Little 'witch from Fat Witch Bakery • Seed + Mill halva • Zach & Zoe honey • How hot can you go?! Guided hot sauce tasting by a hot sauce "sommelier" • Brief shopping adventure with introduction and tote bag at Artists & Fleas • Beer, wine or $5 sangria available (additional cost) Please be aware that stops are subject to change at any time.

We met on a cold Saturday morning, just inside the Chelsea Market. Our guide, Juan, Showed up on time, and was ready to go (without rushing us). He checked in to see if we had breakfasted or not - and we went on to our first destination. The food choices were great, even if the hot sauce tasting was not for everybody. We had biscuits and Jam, taco's, donuts, brownies and Pizza. All were fantastic! Along with history of the marked sprinkled in - it made for great morning. It was cold - so we didn't spend too much time on the HighLine - which is a pity, but made total sense (I don't think it got above freezing all day!!If you are looking for a fun way to kill a few hours, get a nice lunch and learn something - this is a great tour.Just do it!!

A fabulous combination of one of NY's best food hotspots, and the superb High Line linear park winding it's way through incredibly varied architecture and art installations. The selection of Chelsea Market outlets we visited trying many and varied food samples was very well chosen. The stroll along the High Line was at just the right pace to take in the incredible and varied views of street scenes from above, historic buildings, the amazing new Hudson Yard development, art installations and the unique park itself. Our guide Kate was very knowledgeable and a great companion. Definitely a 5*+ experience.

My wife and I (native New Yorkers$ had a great time with Juan. Luckily it was only us two, so the tour was very intimate. We had great conversation and the places he took us too were good. I only gave a 4 because there was nothing part of the tour that was mind blowing or something that we couldn't do ourselves. But overall a good time and definitely worth a visit for outside visitors.
