I can't recommend New York Historical tours enough.
I brought a Boy Scout Troop (about 40 people) to New York City and selected NYHT based on their Trip Advisor rating and on the assumption that, given their name, they would would focus on the history of the areas we were visiting.
Kevin, who owns NYHT, couldn't have been more accessible or helpful in planning our tour. He made sure we had enough guides to split our group into manageable numbers, understood that we wanted not just a historical tour but one that would still be fun and interesting for the kids, and he even worked to accommodate some special lunch requests.
Our three guides were Kevin himself, Katie, and Ken. All the groups had nothing but good things to say about their experience, and a few of the parent's said they planned to book their own tours with Kevin the next time they came to the city so they could see the northern part of Manhattan.
I was with Ken, who is not only super friendly and knowledgeable, but genuinely enjoys sharing the city with his guests.
There was never a sense of being rushed. For example, our group wanted to stop at Ferrara's bakery in LIttle Italy as well as a hot dog vendor to try a Kinish, and Ken understood that (for our group at least) t this was just as important a part of our NYC experience as the rest of the tour.
If you are an individual or family, you'll have a great tour with NHYT.
If you are a group you will not only have a great tour, but you will be able to rest easy before hand because of the personalized attention Kevin gives to working out all the little details that can be so challenging when dealing with a large number of people.
The Boy Scouts and adult leaders loved our tour. Thanks Kevin, Ken, and Katie. You are the best!
