My sister and I have an annual tradition of doing something "touristy" together in lieu of getting each other birthday gifts since we both have so much. This year, we decided to do a walking tour in the city and came across the site for New York Historical Tours, namely the downtown/financial district tour. From the get-go, our tour guide Kevin, was friendly, knowledgeable and had a dry wit that fit our personalities quiet well. He gave us little snippets and side stories of places we've walked by hundreds of times, but never really knew the history of. Highlights of this particular tour are Battery Park, Clinton Castle, Wall Street and WTC. However, along the way he pointed out cool architectural highlights and shared stories of lesser known places. All-in-all, I would totally recommend this tour for both the seasoned city dweller or the passing-through tourist. There is definitely something for everyone!
