Terrible customer service. Okay bikes. They have you travel between Navy Pier and Millenium even if their website says they have a bike at their location. We had a terrible experience with a younger shorter dark haired associate named Eveline. She was incredibly unprofessional and had no customer service skills. She didn’t know how to communicate and was unbelievably rude. No one expects to encounter that on your day off with your family hoping to have a nice bike ride in Chicago. She was disorganized and made us wait 45 minutes to an hour. We arrived 30 minutes early to our reservation to assure our rental process proceeded smoothly. They didn’t have the bikes, swatted us away to just come back exactly at our time. The bikes still weren’t there and she assured us to wait another 20-30 minutes. When we asked for a refund instead so that we could quickly go to a nearby bike rental to save time, she told us she couldn’t do anything because our reservation was online and would have to call a manager. Then instead of calling the manager to help us, Eveline decided to help three other families not communicating why, possibly because in her mind she thought those cases would be faster? Typically you help the person in the front of the line and move back or at a minimum explain the situation with words. When we asked to be help, she yelled at us (20 minutes past our reservation time and 50 minutes past when we arrived) that WE just have to be patient. After her rude episode she wouldn’t offer any other help. She said wouldn’t give us any confirmation of a receipt and told us to leave. She said she didn’t understand why we were still there and began to yell. We simply wanted any documented confirmation that our money would be returned.
Much later, a male worker from the Navy Pier location came. He was kind, assuring, and helpful with our bikes. He apologized for what happened, was kind, and seemed to simply care about us. People like ‘Eveline’ should not be working there. It is unfortunate that Bike and Roll employs unprofessional staff like her who looks any skill in customer service or simply kindness. No one should experience what we did.
Overall, there are much more organized bike rentals in Chicago. AVOID bike and roll.
