Four family members (a 10-year-old daughter and an 8-year-old son) participated. The turtles showed up before we got to Snorkel Point, which was a good feeling. However, when it came time to snorkel, my son was scared and waited on board. As we watched our daughter's first snorkel and the occasional tortoise from the boat, our guide Maki came back for our son! He managed to get his son to cling to Maki's board as well, and with Maki's encouragement he put on a face and saw turtles and fish swimming just below him. Kids are not used to masks, so they could have used their own goggles. It was a failure not to bring goggles. She came back with great satisfaction, seeing the turtles taking a family nap and letting her touch the sea urchins that her guide Darin had picked for her. It was colder than expected on board after the snorkel, but Maki had advised us beforehand that we should take off our rush guards, so we didn't freeze. I was also very grateful that they served warm cocoa.
