A group of 4 of us decided to do this excursion to see more of Alaska. We work up in Denali for the summer and on our days off we want to explore more. So we decided we wanted to see the whole Denali Highway.
I looked into renting a vehicle. All of the vehicle rental places in Alaska will tell you in large print
"RENTAL CARS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE DENALI HIGHWAY."
So we found Stampede Excursions and they have the Denali Self-Guided Jeep Safari and they allow their jeeps to drive on the Denali highway.
I was really excited that it was a self-guided tour because then we could stop whenever we wanted to for pictures. So we didn’t need to be held up with a guide and other people trying to take thousands of pictures.
The scenery was really nice lots to see. We where able to see lakes, ponds, mountains, three different glaciers, the tundra, wildlife and it was spectacular!
We where told that we where not guaranteed to see animals but we know wildlife is wild. But we got to see ptarmigans, robin’s, swan’s, moose, ground squirrel’s and some snowshoe hares. Also we picked blueberries!!
It was cloudy day with a little bit of rain in some parts. But we could not have asked for a more beautiful day.
I will recommend this tour to those who are in the area that would like to explore the Denali Highway.
