My mom and I (I’m in my 20s) went on a mom/daughter trip to Fairbanks and happen to come across Rod’s Alaskan Guide Service. We met our musher Kristen there and she was kind and very knowledgeable about her dog team (they are all hers!) and not only did we get to ride through the snow, but we got to take selfies with the dogs midway through our trip and pet each one! They are SO people friendly and even though one of her dogs was barking a lot, he was just eager to keep running in the snow. Overall a must do I’d say! They also provide pants, gloves, boots if you need them, and at Rod’s Alaskan they also have snow mobiling.
One warning though—I would NOT Uber/Lyft that way. We made that mistake because we couldn’t rent a car and NO ride share was getting us. An employee at the venue called a friend who happened to be a Lyft driver. Since this is in North Pole we found out a lot of drivers don’t like leaving outside of Fairbanks.
Another tip—bring shades! The sun reflects on the snow and it’ll get you in the eye!
