My boyfriend and I are visiting Miami for the first time, and thought it would be fun to visit Everglades National Park for a day!
While we enjoyed the airboat tour, it was far too short (only 30 mins) and not even in the Everglades National Park like this tour stated on the ticket and site. It is literally right next to a highway and near Fort Lauderdale which is unfortunate as we wanted to visit the actual national park (we came all the way from NYC to see it).
Secondly, the “zoo” they have is appalling. The animals are secluded (one per enclosure/cage) in tiny spaces with barely any greenery or shade. We couldn’t watch the alligator show because of how sad it was to see beautiful animals being gawked at and taken advantage of, when they should really be free in the wild like we saw on the airboat tour.
I’m going to request a refund through the tour guide due to the lack of transparency, but that alone doesn’t make up for how these animals are treated. Please consider closing down the zoo!
