While visiting Gatlinburg during the 2018 Memorial Day holiday we dropped in to "Doc Colliers" Moonshine tasting room for our very first moonshine tasting. We were visiting Gatlinburg with family which included my two adult sons and their families, a party of ten in all. Our oldest was acting as our tour guide having visited Gatlinburg several times before. My wife and I had never tasted moonshine before even though I am an avid wine drinker and partake in a dram of single malt scotch every so often. My wife on the other hand, does not enjoy alcohol at all and will usually partake of a small glass of white wine during special occasions. It took a little convincing to get my wife into the tasting room to begin with or for me to partake as I am not a fan of bourbon or any corn mash products. The experience was exceptional! Stephen was our host and an excellent one at that! He was exceptionally knowledgeable, personable and accommodating. I am retired military and I proudly wear a hat commemorating my veteran status. When first walking into the establishment I was immediately greeted with the now familiar "...thank you for your service" salutation! So characteristic of mid-western and southern hospitality and manners! My family and I were made to feel comfortable and were not pressured to purchase any of their product. Needless to say, we did purchase their products and received a generous military/veteran discount! I would recommend this establishment to families and couples and ask for Stephen if you can!
