Searching for an affordable and fun way to get out to the famous Salt Lick BBQ and two (2) beautiful Texas Hill Country wineries? Look no further! This Hill Country BBQ and Wine Shuttle is great for solo travelers, couples, and small groups. The shuttle departs from the Austin Visitor Center at 10:30AM and heads out to the Driftwood area of the Texas Hill Country approx. 35-45 minutes southwest of Austin. Enjoy comfortable transportation in a Mercedes Sprinter van with a friendly local guide. Spend 45-50 minutes at each stop. Food/drinks not included in the shuttle price; guests pay directly at the restaurant and wineries.

  • Tour departs from the AUSTIN VISITOR CENTER located at 103 East 5th Street, Austin, TX 78701, USA
  • Minimum drinking age is 21 years old.
  • Please arrive 15 minutes prior to start time for check in. We are unable to delay the tour for guests who arrive late.
  • Parking is available in the Austin Convention Center Garage which is connected to the Austin Visitor Center. Enter the garage on E 5th St between Red River and Sabine.
  • The tour runs rain or shine, however we reserve the right to cancel the tour in the event of extreme weather and/or hazardous road conditions that would potentially affect the safety of our guides and guests.
  • Guests with limited mobility are welcome to bring a wheelchair or portable scooter on board to be folded and placed in the rear of the van. The vans are not equipped with a ramp or wheelchair lift however, so all guests must be able to step up into the vehicle (about 12 inches).
  • If you have cold or flu-like symptoms or if you are feeling ill in any way, please do not join the tour.

I would absolutely recommend doing this. Austin Detours is a great touring company and a cool way to see the city. The BBQ was so good and the wine at both wineries was very good, high quality, and affordable by the bottle. The wineries were beautiful. Wallace and Trace were amazing guides, it was obvious that they really put in the effort to make it a great experience. They are passionate about Austin and giving the guests a great time. I enjoyed learning all of the history of BBQ and wine in Austin from Wallace. Trace gave each guest a customized list of restaurant recommendations based on what he felt each group would enjoy and gave a detailed description of each spot. He knows Austin like the back of his hand. He also took song recommendations and created a playlist for us to listen to on the way back. They really put in effort toward the experience for us. We also really enjoyed meeting the other people on the tour from other countries. Would highly recommend this tour, we had so much fun!

The BBQ and Wine tour was a 10 star experience!! What a fun day! Our tour guide, Avery, was amazing and made our experience a blast!! Highly recommend for a day of amazing food and delicious wine!
