Garl is an expert at the Everglades, and he led us on a wonderful tour for experience it all up close and personal!
Word for the wise: bring your BEST mosquito repellent. Mosquito season for the year started on the day we went (May 28) so we should have come better prepared.
We did a wet walk through the cedar grove, and the water was amazingly clear until we disturbed it with our feet.
Then we kayaked through some freshwater areas and mangrove stands. Saw alligators!
We stopped for a snack/meal and restroom break, and then the final portion of the day was saltwater kayaking, where we got to see a crocodile, lemon sharks, and from afar, birds. The day we went was low tide and the wind had made the water murky - but Garl said some days the water is super clear!
