I did a lot of research on what cruise lines and packages to go on. I picked this cruise because it was the longest and went deeper into the park. The crew and trip were amazing, easily the best cruise I've ever taken. They work with the other cruise operators to share information on where to find sea life. The picture lists all the sightings we had; 11 distinct groups. That's more than you normally see. The Northwestern glacier is amazing and we saw it calf 3-4 times while we were there. The boat itself can come in fairly close to the glacier, we had ice bouncing off the sides of the ship. The crew was amazing and went above and beyond to make sure we were all comfortable and having the best time we could. If you have a chance to go out with Captain John, Scott, and Jordan - jump at the chance.

The views were incredible--there was fog in the area with small islands--very atmospheric. The glaciers in the Northwestern Fjord were amazing. We navigated between icebergs to get fairly close to the glacier. The sounds it makes are incredible, especially when it calves. We saw several small calvings in the 20 minutes we spent there. We saw sea otters right away, and later saw orcas, humpbacks, Dall porpoises, Stellar sea lions, seals floating on icebergs, puffins, eagles, and many other birds. The sandwiches were good-there was a choice of roast beef, turkey or veggie. They came with chips and a granola bar plus pop. Do take sea-sick precautions before leaving, as passing around the islands can be choppy. Wear warm clothes as it is cold on the boat. The staff--Captain John, Scott and Lilly--were great.

This cruise through Kenai Fjords was the highlight of my Alaska vacation. I cannot say enough about the staff and the sights! The crew knew exactly where to take us to ensure we had great views of a variety of animals. We saw Fin Whales, Humpback Whales, Orcas, Harbor Seals, Stellar Sea Lions, Sea Otters, Porpoises and so many sea birds. We also got up close to a glacier. The staff was knowledgeable about the sights and the animals. They updated a map along the way that tracked our path and what we saw where. The boat we were on was not too large, and it wasn’t packed which was nice. We could move freely around the boat. There is a heated inside seating area with tables and a snack bar. What a great day!
