First of all, this is a great way to get to the South rim of the canyon. No car....no hassle. Train was punctual and relatively comfortable. Stayed at Railway Hotel, which was fine...no complaints. Ate at the buffet restaurant on the property as it was part of our package. Not very good, but I hate buffets.
Train ride included a cowboy “entertainment “ before ride. Corny and silly....unnecessary and dumb. Then on the ride we had two different western singers strolling through the cars. They made it clear we should tip them. Then we were held up by the cowboy entertainers from the pre ride entertainment. We were instructed to give them money as they pretended to rob us. Then our hostess walked up and down the aisle asking each of us if we had any final questions....while accepting...you guessed it...tips. So we were tapped for tips four times. We are savvy travelers, but this seemed a bit much for a relatively pricey train ride.
