We stayed in Williams and did a one-day trip to the South Rim, though you could also add an overnight in the park. I chose the highest class inbound, to access the back, outdoor viewing area. We also were served a light breakfast be our personal host. Conversely, I chose the least costly seats for the return, thinking we might just doze, but the excitement of the train robbery kept us alert and chuckling. In the park, I used the ADA shuttle from the train to El Tovar for lunch. The paved Rim Walk is a perfect, short downhill stroll with great views. It ends at an artist’s studio/gift shop close to shuttle pick-up.
