This kind of activity is probably better for older people or families with kids who can be entertained by looking out a window. If you are an active group of adults, it is a pretty boring 2hr+ ride one way. You briefly see the Grand Canyon for 2-3 secs from the train as you are moving by. You will see cows, and maybe some mule deer closer to the GC.
The Wild West show was outdated. The jokes are at the expense of people. They do a 'heist' of the train on the way back for tips, even though nothing about it is entertaining and they should pay their actors a living wage so tips don't have to be a thing.
Some LARP Marshall bugs you about being on your phone if you have it out and not obviously talking pictures.
Part of the ticket price is the day entry to the park but you cant use that cost to reenter the park later, unlike a real pass bought from the park.
If you are concerned about mask wearing; while they advise to keep masks on during the ride, they also encourage eating and drinking so you don't have to wear a mask. They do not enforce the mask mandate as well. If you have concerns, riding the cheaper Pullman car means you can keep the windows open for airflow.
They did hand out lots of water though. No digital tickets, you have to show up early to physically get them. Sharon(sp?)'s cow puns were delightfully bad.
